Exhibition lighting has been installed in the museum spaces. Its purpose is to provide concentrated illumination of exhibits and highlight their features. Adjustable-beam spotlights mounted on tracks were used for the lighting.
To give the space a distinctive character, an audio system was installed that is activated by a motion sensor. This approach helps conserve equipment resources by using them only when visitors are present.
Several display cases feature electrochromic glass technology. By pressing a button located in the display case, visitors can view the exhibit inside. The glass is coated with a special layer that can be either transparent or completely opaque with a matte grey surface. This installation encourages visitors to engage by pressing the button to discover what is hidden inside the case.
In the events hall, the goal was to create a multifunctional space that could be converted from a temporary exhibition hall into a conference venue. For this purpose, a 65″ touch-sensitive screen with a Windows system and mobile wheels was used. The space also integrates two conference cameras and a ceiling microphone. This system ensures effective conference calls and enables live streaming during events.
One of the visitors’ favourite installations is the interactive camera. It allows guests to take a photo against a museum backdrop, print an instant photograph, or send it to their email.
During the project, the Hopro team created digital content: “talking” portrait photographs of notable figures, a video montage of soil ploughing, the reconstruction and animation of a 3D model of the historic ship Šiauliai, an interactive 3D game, and interactive quizzes. Realistic background sounds of the ship’s port were also produced.
Perhaps the most popular interactive installation in the exhibition is the smart mirror for trying on a sailor’s uniform. Visitors can “wear” the desired uniform, take a photo in it, and send it to their email.
The exhibition also integrates transparent glass technology LCD screens, a rotary hologram display, custom-made furniture with plastered concrete façade walls, as well as designed decorations and display cases.
